The parish of Strážný has got a mild climate, despite its relatively high position above sea level, and it is therefore suitable for summer and winter holidays. Hikers enjoy themselves as much as devotees of cycling or lovers of cross-country skiing. The surrounding woods are especially in the autumn a paradise for mushroom pickers. We can also find a number of places of historical or scientific interest nearby. There is a chapel of the Virgin Mary on Kamenný hill. Not far from here, in the middle of the woods, the ruin of Kunžvart Castle is hidden away on a rocky headland east of Strážný mountain (1135 m). The marked tourist path there leads across Vyhlídka elevation, where there is a chapel of St. Mary the Helper from 1834.
The ruin is all that survives of Königswarte “Royal guard” Castle, which was built by the sovereign for the protection of the Vimperk branch of the Golden Path in the first half of the 14th century. The castle was mentioned for the first time in 1359, when it was ratified as the property of Pešek of Janovice. It never served as a permanent lordly residence, but solely fulfilled its protective function. This is also indicated by its modest appearance. The main and only building was its mighty 15m high stone, prismatic, residential tower, which has been preserved almost in its original condition until the present day. Environs
| | For those who fancy longer hiking tours with dreamy secluded spots and impressive views we offer a route from Strážný through the romantic Řasnice valley to the former settlements of Horní and Dolní Světlé Hory. From there you can continue around Kotlina Valná, a protected spring peat-bog, along the hill-side of the Žďárek hill to the place where in 1775 the woodcutters' settlement of Žďárek was founded. From Žďárek it is possible to continue along the Žďárek moor to Knížecí Pláně, or to descend into the Časté valley to the Žďárek lake which is surrounded by wooded hillsides. From the lake the path continues downwards until the incline of the stream flattens out and the valley widens and gives way to spacious mountain meadows - probably the most beautiful part of the trail. Afterwards the path runs through the wood again to take us back to Strážný.
