Topography

The Šumava village of Želnava lies in the valley of the Vltava bellow Želnava hill (Želnavský vrch), by the upper margin of Lipno Dam. Its district town is Prachatice and it belongs into the South-Bohemian Region. Its relevant municipality with extended competence is also the district town of Prachatice. The village forms southern border of the Šumava National Park. Two neighbouring villages, specifically Slunečná and Záhvozdí, fall into the cadastral community of Želnava. The village is situated in vicinity of the frontier with Germany and Austria. The nearby Lipno Dam (in distance of 3 km) entices to bathing, water sports and fishing. Želnava offers nice view of the mountain ridge stretching beyond Plešné Lake.
