On the edge of the Plešný Lake wall there is a Memorial of of Great Šumava poet and writer Adalbert Stifter from Horní Planá. The obelisk of 14,5 m is constructed of the blocks of local Plöckenstein granite. The rocky platform of the Memorial offers impressive view of the lake and the Vltava valley with Lipno Dam.
To get to the Memorial it is possible to follow the tourist path starting at Plešné Lake called "Spirit of the Virgin Forest" with several information panels. Another option how to get to the Memorial is to follow the yellow-marked tourist path leading across the stone sea and the peak of Plechý mountain.
