Frost weathering of so called Plöckenstein granite and the activity of local glacier some 10 thousand years ago gave birth to this imposing boulder sea with the area of 6 hectares in the distance of 200 m from Plešné Lake. Its giant boulders interwoven by the green-marked tourist path are dwarf pined.
