The originally Gothic church was first recorded in 1395. Its remains can still be found in the lower part of western tower in prismatic shape. It was newly built in 1708-1712 under the auspices of the Earl Jan Nepomuk zu Schwarzenberg. The tower was elevated in 1722. The church is 11 m wide and 22,2 m long, the tower bell from 1624 weights 480 kg. The church went through significant renewal at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The last vicar was Alois Kuschel and the last chaplains were Alois Hanus and Josef Klings. The church has been surrounded with still operating cemetery, displaying number of well preserved cast-iron crosses typical for the Šumava region.
