Svatobor Lookout Tower
On the wooded hill of Svatobor at the altitude of 845 metres above see level a stone lookout tower and a tourist chalet used to stay in 1895-1898 already. The damaged tower was pulled down on 8th May 1934 and replaced in only three month with a new, 31,6 m high, lookout tower built according to the design by the Sušice architect Karel Houra. In the next year a new chalet with a restaurant and several guest rooms was built too. The stone lookout tower offers panoramic view of the Šumava as well as inland, the chalet offers refreshment and accommodation. Svatobor is accessible on foot from the square along the red-marked tourist path (3,3 km) or blue-marked tourist path in the section from the square to Svatobor foothill (2,4 km) and further on along the yellow-marked tourist path from Svatobor foothill to the tourist chalet (1,3 km), by car along the detour from the road No. 187 from Sušice in direction of Hrádek u Sušice (approx. 7 km), or on bike along the cycling route No. 2031 (approx. 3 km).
