Favourite recreational area for Sušice citizens as well as town visitors, who can fish, ride on bicycles or in-line skate here from spring to autumn, bath and sunbathe on the banks of the Otava river or attend various cultural events in summer, cross-country ski in winter and relax the year round. Luh Forest Park is accessible on foot in several minutes from the town square.

Fuferna

The entrance to Luh Forest Park is from the town quarters called Fuferna, which is situated nearby the Sušice square on a bank of the Otava river. The name "Fuferna" is derived from the German expression for a bank - Ufer. It is a popular destination the year round where you can bath and sunbath, observe vivid activity on the Otava or sport in the adrenaline sports centre Offpark, visit well equipped playground with your children or refresh yourselves at the restaurant summer terrace of Fuferna Hotel.

Santos

The river island of Santos is a part of Luh Forest Park. It is situated in vicinity of the town centre and accessible from Fuferna by foot-bridge or across the bridge from Dlouhoveská street. The island is bathed by river streams from all sides, namely by the Otava river and by the Mlýnský stream. The municipal forest park was founded on the island before World War I already and became the centre of Sušice social life in the inter-war period. There used to be a dance floor, wooden billiards and a popular restaurant. Today it is a place of various cultural events as is for instance Majáles student festival, traditional events Dramasteria and the Theatre Festival or the Šumava Rocks music festival. An open-air cinema is operating here during the summer season. The outdoor restaurant Santos entices for refreshment during hot summer days. The whole Santos island is to be revitalized soon to give it back its repute of the old times.
