Cemetery Church of the Virgin Mary

Cemetery Church of the Virgin Mary
The church is the most probably a part of a larger unfinished Gothic church from the 14th century. Its present look is due to the reconstruction work after the fire of 1591. The most precious is the Kabátovská Chapel with stellar vaulting from the 15th century. In present, the church houses Ten Commendments in stone from the demolished Jewish synagogue. The cemetery around the church was the most probably founded shortly after its building and it was used for burials till 1924. Later on, the tombstones were taken away the the place was transformed into a park. The tombstones from the period after 1500 were removed from the floor and embedded into the wall in the 19th century.
