Světlohorská reservoir

The Světlohorská reservoir sits on the slope of Světlá mountain, two kilometres south-east of the village of Lipka. The reservoir was constructed in the 19th century and served as a water reservoir for wood rafting. The reservoir currently consists of a small, undrainable lake of 0.2 hectares flanked on three sides by a spruce forest and by mixed forests on the remaining side. The banks of the lake are made of stones and its average depth is 2.5 metres. Rainbow and common trout are the prevalent fish in the lake, while the freshwater crayfish is most notable invertebrate living in its waters. The freshwater crayfish population was measured using the Peterson method (ROBSON & REIGIER 1968) at this locality in the past and estimated hundreds of adult freshwater crayfish living in the Světlohorská reservoir.
