Celtic trail and Věnec refugium

This trail leads from Kubova Huť, over Boubín hill, through the village of Buk, up and down Svatomářský hill and via the Věnec Celtic refugium to Lčovice.

The Věnec refugium, with its massive stone walls, was perhaps the centre of power of a prince of the late Haštalská period, guarding the entire Volyňka river valley and the trade route from the Salzkammergut in Austria. The finding of a luxurious imported bronze belt supports this theory, as such an article could only belong to a local lord, perhaps even to a prince, who ruled over a much larger territory.
Věnec refugium is located on the south-west peak of the Pržmo mountain massif, which looms over the valley of the Volyňka river. The name Věnec belongs only to the imminent area of the buttress and probably derives from the massive stone mounds, which surround its peak.
