Kašperské Hory – Javorník – Nicov – Kašperské Hory (23,63 km)

From the centre of Kašperské Hory take direction to Vimperk past the school building along the green-marked and subsequently red-marked cycling path through former Ždánov. To the hikers we recommend to turn to the St. John Chapel, the place of alleged meetings of saccharin smugglers from Bavaria in the past. In the village of Javorník it is possible to relish views from the village itself, from the lookout tower on top of Javorník or from rotunda. The way back first goes along the same trail up to the Krankoty signpost from where we take to Nicov (with Late Romanesque St. Martin Church, Baroque vicarage and timbered houses), then we cross the road Kašperské Hory - Stachy. We continue along the blue-marked Klostermann road uphill to the crossroads Pod Mílovským vrchem (Under the Mílov hill) and then descend along the road offering picturesque scenery to Amálino valley with the Zlatý stream. Here we can refresh ourselves before the final climbing to Kašperské Hory.

Cross-country skiing tracks – region of Kašperské Hory

Kašperské Hory – Nicov – Javorník – Vacov

About 20 km of cross-country skiing tracks are prepared with snowmobiles in Kašperské Hory and its surroundings. These are directly linked across the village of Nicov to the routes belonging to the ski resort Zadov.
From Kašperské Hory you can for example set for the track below Kašperk Castle to the village of Žlíbek, continue across the former army shooting range Ždánov, then by the saddle below Královský kámen (Royal Stone) to Krankoty and from here further to Javorník or across Nicov to Zadov. You can return by the northern track round Ždánov hill offering the view of the Sušice and Otava region. Fitness skiers may take advantage of circuits in close vicinity of Kašperské Hory, either the 3km circuit from the end of Karlova Street or a circuit situated about 1,5km beyond the downhill ski area.
The altitude profile of the cross-country skiing routes is not too severe, a harder uphill climb awaits only the skiers heading from Kašperské Hory to the former army shooting range Ždánov.

Refreshment:
Besides ample options offered directly by Kapšerské Hory, the skiers may refresh themselves in the restaurant Rychta na Račánku close to the starting point České domky, in the family hotel with restaurant U Šnečků beyond the former army shooting range Ždánov, in the family hotel with restaurant Jeřabina near Javorník at the location called Tejmlov, in the village of Javorník and in the village of Nicov.
