Downhill Skiing

The ski resort "Nad Kovárnou" can be found in the village at the altitude of 810-900 m. It comprises three ski lifts and a small snow-park with both natural and artificial barriers. The whole complex is situated about 100 m from the bridge across the Teplá Vltava and is visible from the main road I/4 Prague-Passau. All ski slopes are equipped with snow-making systems ensuring sufficient snow cover at unfavourable conditions during the whole winter season. The ski resort offers ideal conditions to families with small children, to beginners and school ski courses.

The advanced skiers may take advantage of the following ski resorts:

Hochficht Ski Resort / 40 km

Zadov Ski Resort / 28 km

 

Other Activities

Water tourism

The fans of canoeing and water tourism may go down the Teplá Vltava from Borová Lada to Horní Vltavice during spring months, class WW I–II, 13 km.
The section of the Teplá Vltava from Horní Vltavice to Lenora is navigable also in summer months, class ZW C, 7 km.

In-line skating

The in-line skaters may take advantage of quality surface and moderate undulation of the road No. 167 from Horní Vltavice to Borová Lada and of the road from Horní Vltavice to Zátoň and Kaplice.

Bathing

The natural outdoor bath can be found about 200 m behind the village of Horní Vltavice.
Teplá Vltava offers pleasant bathing during summer months.
Outside the summer season and at unfavourable weather conditions it is possible to visit the indoor swimming pool in Volary (12 km) or the water park Karoli-Badepark in the 42 km distant Waldkirchen.

Sports grounds

Right in the village there is a football field, a multi-purpose asphalt court and two beach-volleyball courts.
