Bridge across the Vltava

Bridge across the Vltava
Bridge across the Vltava
A ford with the imposed toll used to be in place of today's bridge across the Vltava (technical monument). The first bridge was built rather late and was only made of wood. After the World War I it was not meeting growing requirements of the road traffic any more and was therefore substituted in 1926 with a concrete arched bridge built by Pittel and Brauswetter company, which is documented by the plaques placed at the entrances. A baroque chapel was incorporated into the structure of the new bridge. The village has used the bridge silhouette at its municipal seal since 1938. The bridge was declared a technical monument in 1987 and has survived in relatively good condition the dramatic growth in the heavy truck transport since the opening of the state frontier in 1989.
