This is a well-known wetland located in a mountain saddle between Kvilda and Horská Kvilda. Its name comes from a small lake, now overgrown with peat moss. The bog was declared a nature reserve in 1933, and in 1969 the reserve was expanded to cover 109 hectares.

There is also a two-story observation tower at the site, offering a beautiful view into the peat bog. From the tower, you can continue along a wooden boardwalk for about 400 meters and get a closer look into the reserve.

The bog is drained by the Hamerský stream into the Vydra River and the Kvildský stream into the Warm Vltava River. The right side of the bog is artificially drained and partially excavated. Peat extraction ended here in 1933 when the reserve was declared. The peat layer is 2.5 meters deep; the maximum depth is 7.5 meters.

How to get to the observation tower:

By car: About 200 meters from the parking lot along the road between Kvilda and Horská Kvilda.

By bike or on foot: From Kvilda, take the road toward Horská Kvilda – 2.5 km. From Horská Kvilda, take the road toward Kvilda – 2.5 km.
