Hauswald Chapel

Hauswald Chapel
Hauswald Chapel
Hauswald Chapel is a significant pilgrimage place nearby Staré Srní. The chapel was built three times (in 1820, 1860 and 1901-1902). Though the chapels have not survived, the original foundations were uncovered and reconstructed and the place was newly consecrated in 2006. Once in a year, in the middle of August on the occasion of the traditional Srní fair, a mass is served in here. A legend says that the spring near the chapel has a healing and curing power. Hauswald Chapel forms the setting of a novel by Karel Klostermann called Červené srdce (Red Heart).
