Klášterský Mlýn

Klášterský Mlýn
The Art Nouveau villa of the former glass-works' owners was built in 1903. A colour glass mosaic depicting a fountain has been preserved by the entrance. The glass-works was established at the place of the Klatovy Benedictine Order's' mill in 1836. At first the glass-works manufactured glass pearls and plate glass, later crystal and Art Nouveau style glass. In the period between 1878 and 1908 it belonged to the most significant glass manufacturers in Austria-Hungary and was awarded with many appraisals at the World Exhibitions of the period. Its importance was nevertheless decreasing, it was dissolved in 1947 and the buildings were gradually demolished. The products of the Klášterský Mlýn glass-makers are displayed in the Museum of Kašperské Hory.
