This unique preserved part of the original military premises was serving as a radar tower and as an army air defence station from 1960's. The surrounding buildings were demolished in 1989 and the tower underwent reconstruction and was rebuilt into a lookout tower in 1997. The 37 m high building houses the Information Centre of Šumava National Park, an exposition and a snack bar. The top of the tower offers unique views and - under ideal weather conditions - the Alps are visible.
