Roklanská gamekeeper

Roklanská gamekeeper
The original Roklanská gamekeeper's lodge was pulled down due to the construction of the Roklanská floating reservoir and the present Roklanská Cottage was built in 1936 by the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists according to the project of the significant Sušice architect Karel Houra. The Roklanská Cottage is nowadays inaccessible and its technical condition is poor, designed for demolition. In vicinity of the Roklanáská Cottage, on the banks of the Roklanský stream and other no-name streams in the surroundings, as well as on the bottom of the Roklanská reservoir, there are remainders of the highest elevated locations of gold panning in the Czech Republic. Historical sources indicate gold panning in the area in the 9th century A.D already.
In present, Roklanská Cottage is inaccessible due to the protection in the Šumava National Park.
