In the past, gold was panned along the streams in the surroundings of Horská Kvilda. The activity of gold-panning is nowadays reminded of by the piles of gold-bearing sand on the banks of the streams, so called "sejpy".
Golden Path - a medieval trade route from Passau to Kaperské Hory leading past Břesník, Filipova Hu, Horská Kvilda, and Zhůří. Some parts of the route, mostly hollow ways called by the locals "packhorse canals" or "cradle roads", are still perceivable in the area.
