The saw-mill was built by the Prague merchant Čeněk Bubeníček close to the confluence of the rivers Vydra and Křemelná after the forest wind-throw disasters in 1863 and 1870. The building was rebuilt in 1912 into the water power station, which has been serving with the original equipment ever since. Another water power plant called Vydra and built in 1937-1944 takes advantage of waters from Vchynicko-tetovský floating channel. Both power stations are functional technical monuments. The building houses the expositions of Západočeská energetika - history of water-power industry in the Šumava, model of power station on Černé jezero (Black Lake) and Vydra power station, Vchynicko-tetovský floating channel and glass-window view of the turbine house of Vydra power station
